Zeeb - MockCockSpockShockRock (album) - Fiddler Crab Music
Although claiming to have landed on earth in 1864, Zeeb appear to have a firm grasp of the intrinsic of power metal and of what is required to build a concept record. That and they know how great Mexican wrestling masks look.
When the vocals kick in, they have that repeating whining style of Placebo or Therapy except that they are covered in a sense of humour and preposterous that little Brian could never allow himself to reach.
“Zeeb Amoeba” features some human beat-boxing and low level rapping not heard since the nadir of the Beta Band rap, and amazingly, it comes off even worse. The few short filler tracks don’t help the albums continuity and takes attention away from the bands rocking backdrop, which whilst being derivative, is played well and delivered manfully.
If there is a market for 1980s styled rock music warning of an alien invasion of Earth, it would be nice to think that Zeeb could do extremely well in that niche area.
