Larrikin Love - The Freedom Spark - (album)

Larrikin Love are yet another one of these fast-living, politic spouting bands from the South of England who seem to have cropped up at an alarming rate nowadays. Offering a ramshackle yet quite joyous romp, songs such as “Happy as Annie” sound more akin to the American south with its rattling banjo-like led verse before it launches into an amphetamine fuelled chorus. For a band that sound tired of modern day Britain , they sound classically English in their dialect and tone but do so with a childlike wonder and naivety, as opposed to cynicism.

They may be peddling the same lines that others are doing but they are doing in it a rather more imaginative manner, and for this alone, Larrikin Love deserve a listen. It may not be to your taste but their sheer cheek and bravado will likely add a smile to your face for a while.
