First coming to this writers attention whilst supporting the Super Furry Animals, Dead Meadows style of psychedelic rock fitted in well with the evenings main band and weren’t out of their depth on the night.
This is a re-release of their 2000 debut album, so new fans can catch up on the bands history and it doesn’t disappoint. With the fuzz guitars and heavy bass at times touching Black Sabbath, the vocals and rhythm frees the band in a looser direction. With some long tracks allowing for extended workouts and improvisation, the album throbs along throughout and would get most heads nodding along in appreciation.
With the slower blessed out moments evoking early Verve music and the upbeat ones mimicking 70s bluesy stomps, what it lacks in originality, this record makes up for in fun and all-out passion. A welcome re-release from Dead Meadow.
